Guylaine Tremblay

Actress

Following her training at the Dramatic Arts Conserva- tory of Quebec, Guylaine Tremblay has taken on many roles, both serious and comedic. Her many prizes and nominations at the GÉMEAUX, ARTIS, MÉTROSTAR and JUTRA awards are a testament to her talent and popu- larity. Her career path in lm stands as proof of her wide acting range as well as her loyalty to certain directors such as Bernard Émond (Contre toute espérance and 20h17 rue Darling) and Catherine Martin (Trois temps après la mort d’Anna and Mariages). She was recently seen in the movies Qu’est-ce qu’on fait ici by Julie Hivon, Le vrai du faux by Émile Gaudreault, and on stage as part of the cast of Belles-Soeurs. She was a Quebec favourite on the small screen in Annie et ses hommes and will long be remembered as the eccentric Caro in La petite vie. She currently shines in the universally praised tv series Unité 9.

Helen Faradji

Film critic

Helen Faradji arrived in Quebec in 1999, and has since practiced her profession as a movie critic with unyiel- ding passion. The holder of a doctorate in lm on the Coen Brothers and Tarantino, she is also chief editor at revue24images.com and collaborates with various media, including Catherine Perrin’s show at ICI, Première Chaîne, Média lm and TFO.

André Forcier

Filmmaker

Since the early 1970s, André Forcier has directed thirteen feature films, as well as some shorts and documentaries, including a series about Louisiana, a region he adores. Acknowledged repeatedly by critics and juries of festivals overseas, his cinema is marked by popular imagination, in the vein of neorealist poetic-slang. His pugnacious characters have led to savoury interpretations from actors (Roy Dupuis, Gaston Lepage, France Castel, Céline Bonnier) who remain loyal to him from lm to lm. In 2003, he received the Albert-Tessier Prize for his body of work. This spring, he will start shooting his next lm, Bébé Fourneau.

Ailton Franco JR.

Executive Director of CURTA CINEMA

A graduate of economics and lm studies, Ailton Jr. has been the director of the Brazilian festival Curta Cinema since its very rst edition in 1990. An impor- tant showcase for short lms in Brazil and abroad, the Curta Cinema festival presents over 250 shorts from over 30 di erent countries every year and shares many similarities with REGARD. Lastly, Ailton Jr. also produces various many short lms, documentary and ction fea- ture lms, as well as television shows. He participates in international productions, and is a curator for many lm festivals.

Gabriel Gauchet

Filmmaker

Gabriel lives and works in London. He is a graduate of the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne and holds a master’s degree from the UK’s National Film and Tele- vision School. Gabriel has directed various short lms, amongst them Die Kneipe, Efecto Domino, The Mass of Men and recently Z1. His short lms have been selec- ted in over 300 festivals worldwide and won over 100 awards and nominations, amongst them the Golden Leopard at Locarno and the International Award at the festival REGARD for The Mass of Men.

Sylvain Corbeil

Producer

Born in Montreal, Sylvain Corbeil studied lm at the University of Quebec in Montreal. Upon completing his studies, he organised Proje(c)t Y, a roving festival of quebecois short lms where he met many young talented lmmakers. Noticing that a lack of support kept these talents from blossoming, he entered lm production and founded Meta lms inc. in May 2003. To date, he has produced 16 short lms that have been largely presented worldwide. He has also produced 13 feature lms that have garnered both prestigious selections and awards on the international scene, such as Félix and Meira by Maxime Giroux, named Best Canadian lm at the 39th Toronto International Film Festival last September.

Carole Gauthier

Retired nurse

Retired since 2012, Carole hails from Dolbeau, Lac- Saint-Jean. Actively involved in her community, she is particularly fond of lm and winter sports.

Sara-Jeanne Lemieux

Student

Sara-Jeanne is currently working on her Master’s degree in regional studies and intervention. Having a Bachelor’s in history, she is also interested in the social sciences of religions and is involved with the Association des archivistes du Québec.

François Lyonnet

Teacher

Born in France, François Lyonnet emigrated to Quebec at a very young age. He completed his university studies in literature in Chicoutimi before becoming a college professor. Passionate about nature and open spaces, board sports and aviation, he divides his time between teaching lm and literature and travelling to distant lands, most notably the African continent.

Fanny-Laure Malo

Producer 

Fanny-Laure Malo is a young producer from Montreal. Since the creation of La Boite a Fanny in 2011, she has produced over half a dozen short lms such as Herd Leader (Chloe Robichaud, Cannes Film Festival O cial Competition 2012), and Life’s a Bitch (Francois Jaros, Sundance Film Festival & Telluride Film Festival 2013). Her first feature, Sarah prefers to run, her third collaboration with director Chloe Robichaud, was part of Cannes’ Un certain Regard selection in 2013. Fanny-Laure is currently developing shorts and features.

Stéphane Breton

Actor

Stéphane Breton is an actor from Quebec who graduated from the Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Montréal in 1996. This thespian has presented memorable roles on stage, as well as on television and the big screen. His interpretation of Alain in the movie Camion from Rafael Ouellet, and the role of Rivard in Ricardo Trogi’s Québec-Montréal are noteworthy. Winner of a Gémeaux Award for his role as Bruno in the series Le négociateur, Stéphane has been in more than 20 television productions. In spring 2015, he will be back on the TNM’s stage with Hugo Bélanger’s Le tour du monde en 80 jours.

Boran Richard

Filmmaker, photographer

In the past fteen years, Boran Richard developed an artistic practice in dance video, animated lm and photography. He has a masters degree in arts at the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi. His lms have been screened in over seventy Canadian and international events. He has participated in many visual arts events and collaborates in theatre and dance projects as a videographer, lighting designer and set designer. Boran Richard has been teaching film and communications at the Cegep of Saint-Félicien for three years. He lives in Chicoutimi.

Jimmy Larouche

Filmmaker

A filmmaker from Alma, Jimmy Larouche wrote and directed nine well-known short lms shown in numerous festivals around the world. In fall 2010 he lmed his rst length lm titled La Cicatrice, a psychological suspense starring Marc Béland and Patrick Goyette. Antoine and Marie, a film on the subject of rape drugs, is his second featurelength lm. It won the prize for Best Canadian Film at the 43e edition of the Festival du nouveau cinéma in Montréal 2014.
