SHORT FILM MARKET
REGARD’s Marché du court (short film market) was inaugurated in 2004. It remains the only event of its kind in Canada! It’s a truly fun and stimulating project, but it isn’t all obvious to the uninitiated. We often get asked:
Do you sell films at the market?
No! There are bigger markets (Festival de Clermont or Trouville to name two) where film rights are sold and catalogues are shopped. Our market is more of a talent showcase and a platform for sharing, learning and networking.
Here are some metaphors that might entice you:
The Marché du court is like a wine that perfectly accompanies your restaurant meal.
Seeing the films in our program is an experience in its own right, and when you meet the people who make these little gems, the pleasure is multiplied. The Marché du court organizes master classes with experienced technical experts, discussion panels with industry pros, intimate discussions with experienced filmmakers and other kinds of get-togethers perfect for cinema talk.
The Marché du court is your networking wing-person!
When you’re into somebody, it can’t hurt to have a friend to help bring you to their attention, right? That’s what the Marché does – for film pros! We organize all kinds of networking activities: producer-writer intros, breakfasts, brunches, cocktails, mocktails, pro workshops and more. All kinds of opportunities to meet filmmakers, distributors, producers, buyers, programmers, writers and the many technical specialists involved in making movies! But to benefit from these networking activities, you’ll need PRO ACCESS.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained…
Heed these words of wisdom and join in! You’ll come away with all kinds of new ideas to ponder (and some new contacts, of course!)
