Ahh… Last Call… the only program where films get rejected for being too good! The pure essence of wonderfully bland expressions like: “You learn from your mistakes…” “Beauty is pain…” “Third time’s the charm…” Here, awkwardness and glorious failures are celebrated. Cringeworthy dialogue, questionable acting, catastrophic editing, and borderline DIY “technical feats” all get their moment in the spotlight. This is the grand parade of cringe, where filmmakers bravely exhume their troubled pasts, and invite us along for the ride. But don’t worry: everyone’s in the same boat. We sink together, joyfully and with total self-mockery, in what feels like a collective therapy session. We laugh hard (sometimes nervously), applaud the missteps, and come to a comforting realization: deep down, everyone has to start somewhere.
